Skyglow
Skyglow is a game design project created by a group of 8 individuals under IndieCade's Climate Jam, in partnership with Games for Our Future. This initiative brings together researchers, storytellers, and game designers to develop research-based climate games that inspire action.
Our game intertwines educational content with immersive gameplay to raise awareness about light pollution. In a town where the stars have vanished behind a curtain of artificial light, players join a small cat on a quest to reclaim the night sky. Navigate through multiple levels to rescue the stolen stars from sources of light pollution, gradually returning them to their rightful place and restoring the sky’s natural beauty. Through charming interactions with townspeople, players will make eye-opening discoveries about the true impact of light pollution on health, wildlife, and the environment.
As players progressively restore the night sky, they see how small changes can make a big difference for our planet. It’s an engaging way to show how everyone can help fight climate change, one star at a time! We hope to inspire players to engage in community awareness and action.
This mentorship would be an amazing opportunity to learn how to significantly amplify the impact of our project. I think under this support, we can significantly increase our ability to raise awareness about light pollution and direct more resources toward organizations and charities dedicated to combating light pollution. I'm passionate about making a meaningful difference, and I believe this mentorship will be a crucial step in our journey to inspire real change and protect our night skies.
